University of Arizona vs Utah, Pac 12 football

Arizona running back Jonah Coleman turns the corner on Utah safety Austin Keetch in the first quarter of the 42-18 win.

The first Arizona Wildcat to follow head coach Jedd Fisch and his staff to Washington is running back Jonah Coleman, who committed to the Huskies Saturday night.

Coleman committed to UW hours after Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita, wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan and linebacker Jacob Manu announced their decisions to stay at the UA during the first half of the Wildcats men's basketball team's win over UCLA at McKale Center.

Coleman, a standout from Arizona's loaded 2022 recruiting class, took an official visit to Washington this weekend. Former Arizona signee and Indiana transfer cornerback Jordan Shaw is also on an official visit to Washington.

The 5-9, 225-pound Coleman, a Stockton, California native and member of the UA's star-studded 2022 recruiting class, ended his two-year Arizona career with 1,243 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, along with 307 receiving yards.

Coleman led the Wildcats in rushing with 128 carries for 871 yards and five touchdowns as a second-year running back this past season. Coleman averaged 5.2 yards per carry after contact, according to Pro Football Focus. PFF gave Coleman a team-leading 91.8 offensive grade for the season; he also had a 93.5 rushing grade. Coleman's top performance as a Wildcat was an 11-carry, 179-yard outing at Colorado. He also had 22 carries for 143 yards in a triple-overtime loss to USC, and a three-touchdown performance in Arizona's 38-point win over Washington State.

With seniors Michael Wiley and DJ Williams out of eligibility, Coleman was expected to become the Wildcats' workhorse starter, along with Rayshon Luke, freshman Brandon Johnson and incoming freshmen Jordan Washington and Adam Mohammed, who recently backed out of his national letter of intent.

Luke announced on his social media accounts on Saturday that he's staying at Arizona.
