The Arizona Wildcats have picked up another verbal commitment from the state of Texas.

Three-star linebacker Derrion Clark of Dallas committed to Arizona on Saturday.

Clark attends South Oak Cliff High School. Clark is listed at 6 feet, 215 pounds by 247Sports, which ranks him as the No. 78 inside linebacker in the nation.

Clark reportedly is on an official visit to Tucson, and he might not be the only recruit to commit before the weekend is over.

Clark becomes the fifth member of Arizona’s 2019 class – and the third from Texas. The others are quarterback Grant Gunnell and tailback Michael Wiley, who are both from the Houston area. (Dallas cornerback Logan Wilson committed to Arizona in April but de-committed June 12.)

First-year coach Kevin Sumlin and his staff continue to capitalize on their Texas ties. The talent-rich state, which had been good to the Wildcats in the past, largely was ignored by the previous regime until the 2018 class, which includes four Texans.

Here’s how the ’19 class currently stands:

  • LB Derrion Clark, 6-0, 215, Dallas (South Oak Cliff)
  • QB Grant Gunnell, 6-6, 222, Houston (St. Pius X)
  • OL Jordan Morgan, 6-5, 270, Marana (Marana)
  • P Kyle Ostendorp, 6-2, 195, Phoenix (Desert Vista)
  • RB Michael Wiley, 5-10, 175, Houston (Strake Jesuit)
