Quick hitters from the Arizona Wildcats’ media availability after their 13th practice of spring Monday morning:
* Coach Rich Rodriguez said one of the benefits of adding former UA quarterback B.J. Denker to the staff as an analyst is he knows the program and “what to look for without us having to explain it to him." His primary recruiting responsibility will be junior colleges. Denker came to Arizona from Cerritos (Calif.) College, so he’s familiar with the JC landscape.
* Linebacker Kahi Neves is not practicing because of disciplinary reasons. Rodriguez has the redshirt freshman doing "community service" around campus, including cleaning up the bleachers and dugout at Kindall/Sancet Stadium.
* Receiver Cedric Peterson, who's been limited because of a foot injury, did more work today than he's done all spring. He still might be held out of Friday’s scrimmage, though.
* No surprise here, but Rodriguez said junior Shun Brown has been the most consistent of Arizona's wide receivers.
* Sophomore safety and likely starter Tristan Cooper has bulked up to 190 pounds. He came in at 170-175. He’s listed at 6-foot-1 but might be closer to 6-2.
* I asked Cooper which receiver has stood out the most this spring, and he said redshirt freshman Devaughn Cooper (no relation). Tristan doesn’t cover Devaughn often but can see his quickness and shiftiness on film.
* Rodriguez said Josh Pollack performed "pretty well" in his first year as Arizona's kicker. He was more comfortable once he eliminated punting from his duties, and that’s the plan moving forward.
* Pollack said he has spent about 90 percent of his time this spring on field goals, 10 percent on punting. He also works on kickoffs inside Arizona Stadium during certain practice periods. He welcomes the competition from incoming freshman Lucas Havrisik.
* Arizona has worked on punt, punt block and field goals this spring. The Wildcats might do some field-goal block this week. They’re waiting until training camp to integrate kickoff and kickoff return because “that personnel might all be changing,” Rodriguez said.
* Rodriguez said the special-teams schemes will be evaluated over the summer "to see what we can do to put our guys in position to make plays."
* Receiver Cam Denson still has a walking boot on his right foot.
* Defensive end Jalen Cochran, who’s been out because of concussion issues, did not have a yellow jersey as he left practice, suggesting some level of participation.
* We got to talk to ex-Arizona receiver Trey Griffey today; he had to leave immediately after pro day Friday. Griffey said he has interviews lined up with the Chargers and Seahawks.
* Former Wildcats David Richards and Ka'Deem Carey were on campus working out.
