With both ankles taped, Arizona Wildcats quarterback Khalil Tate (14) warms up before the University of Arizona Wildcats vs. University of California Golden Bears college football game on Oct. 6, 2018, at Arizona Stadium in Tucson, Ariz.

Observations from warmups before the Arizona Wildcats’ game against Cal on Saturday night at Arizona Stadium (7 p.m., FS1):

* Despite speculation to the contrary, it appears that Khalil Tate will start at quarterback for Arizona, per usual. The second QB up in 11-on-11 team drills was Rhett Rodriguez. It’s also worth noting that freshman Jamarye Joiner was added to the flip-card depth chart.

* Linebacker Tony Fields II, who left last week’s game against USC because of an apparent right-shoulder injury, is dressed. It appears he will make his 19th straight start as a Wildcat.

* Fields’ backup, Anthony Pandy, has been reinstated after sitting out last week because of a suspension.

* It appears that Josh Pollack has unseated Lucas Havrisik as the placekicker. Pollack was the first kicker up during warmups.

* Backup tight end Jamie Nunley had a boot on his left foot and will not play. It appears that freshman Jake Peters will be the No. 2 guy behind Bryce Wolma.

* Left tackle Layth Friekh, who exited last week’s game in the second half, lined up with the first-team offensive line at his usual spot.

* Cornerback Jace Whittaker is dressed, but it appears that Tim Hough again will start opposite Lorenzo Burns.

* Freshman defensive tackle Nahe Sulunga is dressed and could make his UA debut as part of the D-line rotation.

* Redshirt-freshman cornerback Malik Hausman is dressed. He has yet to appear in a game for Arizona.
