The University of Arizona softball team’s 13-game winning streak was snapped with a 3-1 loss to Texas in Austin on Saturday.

The No. 9-ranked Wildcats managed only one hit in the game — a Malia Martinez double in the third inning.

Freshman Hanah Bowen suffered her first loss at UA. She allowed three runs on five hits to fall to 2-1.

Texas (8-9) got 4 1/3 strong innings from Brooke Bolinger, who improved to 3-2. The Wildcats (14-2) scored their only run in the fifth after drawing three straight walks, followed by a fielder’s choice by Ashleigh Hughes to cut the lead to 3-1.

UA hadn’t lost since a 9-4 defeat to Oklahoma State in Tempe on Feb. 9.

The teams will play the rubber game at 10 a.m. Sunday. UA’s next home game is against South Dakota at 6 p.m. Thursday as part of the first day of the Wildcat Invitational.
