Preparations are being made on Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, in advance of Tuesday's first Blue Jays game at Sahlen Field. The cutouts are in place in the section behind the batter's box.

The Toronto Blue Jays planned to debut their “New Blue” uniforms for their home opener.

And they will, tonight in Buffalo.

The baby blue uniform is a tip of the cap to the franchise’s history when the players wore similar threads. The new version adds navy blue accents.

The uniforms were unveiled at the team’s Winter Fest in January, before the pandemic changed everything.

At the event, team President and CEO Mark Shapiro said the organization has heard from fans for years about bringing back the baby blues. They polled the players on potential designs and their wishes matched the fans’ requests.

“They’re really nice,” shortstop Bo Bichette told MLB.com at Winter Fest. “I figured the fans would love them because they’re a little old school and it would bring back some feels. We’re super excited to wear these, and we can’t wait.”

Baby blue jerseys were presented to Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul at a news conference Tuesday morning at Sahlen Field.
