Sahlen Field will host Toronto Blue Jays' home games starting Tuesday night.

Buffalo police will temporarily close some streets around Sahlen Field before and after Toronto Blue Jays home games while the teams travel to and from the downtown ballpark, city officials said Monday.

The roads will be temporarily closed to accommodate a large number of tour buses transporting players and other staff. There will be no streets closed during the games.

The Blue Jays will play their homes games at Sahlen Field starting Tuesday night through the end of September.

Buffalo police will also be working in other "specialized units" because of the Major League Baseball games played here, said Capt. Jeff Rinaldo.

The Blue Jays organization will pay for overtime for any required services from the police department, Mayor Byron W. Brown said.

Tuesday will be a "big sports day" for Buffalo, the mayor said.

"Sahlen Field is ready," Brown said. "The City of Buffalo is ready."
