Pioma College's women's basketball team will host the fifth annual Bruce Fleck Classic starting Tuesday at the West Campus gym.Â
The three-day tournament features Pima and five other schools: Snow College, Cochise College, South Mountain Community College, Arizona Western College and Parkland College. The Aztecs will take on Parkland Tuesday at 7 p.m., then play Snow College Wednesday at 7 p.m. and South Mountain Thursday at 5 p.m. Pima (9-3) is perfect at home this season.Â
The tournament is named for Fleck, a longtime Tucson High and Flowing Wells assistant who served as coach Todd Holthaus' right-hand man at Pima. Fleck died of a heart attack on April 8, 2011, just weeks after Pima played in the NJCAA Division II national championship game.Â
Proceeds from every tournament are put in a scholarship fund given to one Pima basketball player every year.Â
