Georgia vs. Kentucky odds, picks and predictions: Kentucky Wildcats +14.5 (-110)

Georgia opens this game as a 14.5-point favorite. The Bulldogs are -650 to win outright and the total for this game sits at 47.5 points.

Georgia finds itself one week removed from a scare against unranked Auburn. That game was tied 20-20 midway through the fourth quarter before Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck threw a touchdown to star tight end Brock Bowers with three minutes remaining. Georgia’s vaunted defense struggled to contain Auburn quarterback Payton Thorne on the ground, who ran for 92 yards.

Beck, who took over the reins from Stetson Bennett, showed flashes to start the year. He’s not the same quarterback as Bennett, but there is promise. Georgia certainly isn’t afraid to put the ball in his hands, as the junior averages 32.2 passing attempts per game.

Meanwhile, Kentucky rattled off its fifth win in as many tries, taking down then-No. 22 Florida at home. Wildcats running back Ray Davis had his way with the Gator defense, running for an astounding 280 yards and three touchdowns. Kentucky’s defense looked solid, sacking Florida three times and intercepting a pass.

Davis has been strong so far for Kentucky, even outside his 280-yard showing last weekend. Davis has 594 yards and eight touchdowns to start the season. He’s complemented by quarterback Devin Leary, a transfer from N.C. State, who has thrown for 1,129 yards and 10 touchdowns so far.

As the defending national champion, Georgia is rightfully favored. But this game could end up being closer than many think, if last week is any indication.

The Bulldogs have yet to cover the spread once this season. It’s been the opposite story for Kentucky, which is 4-1 ATS so far this year.

Mark Stoops’ Kentucky team won’t go down without a fight. And given how Georgia has toyed with teams that (on paper) are lesser opponents, we don’t see this being a runaway win for the Bulldogs.

Take Kentucky to cover a 14.5-point spread on Saturday against Georgia.
