It's bowl season and things are really starting to heat up as the college football year comes to a close.
We take a look at three bowl games on Dec. 23, including a matchup of teams that resided in the Top 25 earlier this season.

Duke vs. Troy odds, Birmingham Bowl pick: Troy +7.5 (-110 or better)
Both teams lost their head coaches after the regular season. Duke’s Mike Elko went to Texas A&M and Troy’s Jon Sumrall went to Tulane.
Plus, Duke quarterback Riley Leonard transferred to Notre Dame and six defensive starters joined the transfer portal.
Sun Belt champion Troy has a talented quarterback in Gunnar Watson (60.8% completion rate, 27 touchdowns, five interceptions).
Troy running back Kimani Vidal was the NCAA’s second-leading rusher with 1,582 yards and 14 touchdowns.
The talent gap between the ACC and Sun Belt is considerable. But Troy, with its skill players, is in excellent position to cover the 7.5-point spread.
The game is at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Ala., at noon ET (ABC).
James Madison vs. Air Force odds, Armed Forces Bowl pick: Air Force +3 (+110 or better)
This is a most interesting contrast of offensive styles -- the running-oriented Air Force (8-4, 5-7 ATS) triple-option vs. the passing game of James Madison (11-1, 8-4 ATS).
Air Force attempted only 100 passes (52 completions) for 1,028 yards, worst in the nation. Air Force’s rushing attack is second nationally (275.8 yards) and the Falcons scored 33 touchdowns on the ground.
Air Force dealt with injuries over the last month of the season but all injured players are expected to play.
James Madison’s passing attack completed 268-of-395 attempts for 3,445 yards and 33 touchdowns.
JMU, which lost coach Curt Cignetti to Indiana, was ranked No. 18 before losing in its regular-season finale to Appalachian State, 26-23, in overtime. Air Force was 8-0 and ranked No. 25 in the College Football Playoff rankings in November before losing its final four games.
The Air Force triple-option is complicated to defend, giving the Falcons the edge to cover.

Northwestern vs. Utah odds, Las Vegas Bowl pick: Utah -6.5 (-110 or better)
Northwestern (7-5, 8-4 ATS) put together a remarkable season after long-time coach Pat Fitzgerald was fired in July. The Wildcats have won three consecutive games.
Northwestern pulled off road upsets at Wisconsin and Illinois and defeated visiting Purdue to become bowl eligible. The Wildcats’ strength is on defense.
Utah (8-4, 6-5-1 ATS) has lost four consecutive bowl games.
Walk-on quarterback Bryson Barnes took over after starter Cam Rising suffered a knee injury and missed all of the 2023 season.
The Utes’ defense should control the line of scrimmage and help end the bowl drought. With two good defenses, under the total of 41.5 looks like a solid play.
