A.J. Epenesa's debut with the Buffalo Bills will have to wait.
The team's second-round draft pick is a healthy inactive Sunday for the season opener against the New York Jets at Bills Stadium.
Epenesa was listed as a third-stringer on the team's unofficial depth chart this week, and that played out as coach Sean McDermott decided to go with Trent Murphy, Jerry Hughes, Mario Addison and Darryl Johnson Jr. at defensive end.
Also inactive for the Bills are veteran tight end Lee Smith, quarterback Jake Fromm, running back T.J. Yeldon, guard Ike Boettger and defensive tackle Vernon Butler, who was listed as questionable for the game with a hamstring injury.
Cornerback Cam Lewis and defensive tackle Justin Zimmer, both of whom were called up from the practice squad, are active for the game.
