Jason Terry left Arizona 10 years before Sean Miller arrived in Tucson, yet the UA coach knows his story pretty well.
He said he’s impressed not only with Terry’s career accomplishments at UA, but also what he’s done since then.
“The other thing that transcends Jason Terry beyond just a normal very good college player is what he’s done since he’s left,” Miller said. “So many players have good college careers but when you follow them beyond they don’t have that same type of year professionally.
“When you look at his professional career it’s amazing. The fact he won a state championship in high school (Seattle’s Franklin High), a national championship here and a world championship with the Dallas Maverick, and he was the NBA Sixth Man of the Year, everything he’s done he is the standard -- you say that’s why I came here to play a program that a guy like this played at.”
Terry's UA jersey will be retired tonight.
