The final day of 2015 was a busy one for Arizona Wildcats football recruiting.
First, Arizona gained a commitment from junior-college linebacker Kapri Doucet. Then, the Wildcats lost one from quarterback Devon Modster.
Modster, a four-star prospect from Tesoro High in Rancho Santa Margarita, California, announced via Twitter that he has re-opened his recruitment:

While the Wildcats stand to lose a touted, talented player, Modster’s decision isn’t devastating for Arizona’s 2016 class. The UA still has a verbal commitment from four-star QB Khalil Tate. Should Tate change his mind – there have been rumors to that effect with USC in hot pursuit – Arizona would be left scrambling for a quarterback with a little more than a month to go before signing day.
As it stands now, the Wildcats will have three scholarship quarterbacks on the roster in 2016: returning starter Anu Solomon; backup Brandon Dawkins, who will be a redshirt sophomore; and the multifaceted Tate.
Arizona’s 2016 class currently consists of 17 players:
- DE Jake Burton, El Cajon, Calif. (Granite Hills)
- OL Bryson Cain, Temecula, Calif. (Great Oak)
- LB Jacob Colacion, La Habra, Calif. (La Habra)
