OFFENSE
Quarterbacks: B-. For the second week in a row, Jerrard Randall saved this grade from being quite lower. Anu Solomon started, but struggled, completing 12 of 20 passes for 145 yards and zero touchdowns. Randall was inserted into the lineup in the third quarter and guided the Wildcats on a comeback trail, scoring on all three possessions, and he had a career-best 68.8 completion percentage, 137 yards and two touchdowns and added 105 rushing yards on 10 carries.
Running backs: C. Jared Baker rushed for three short touchdowns, but otherwise it was a below average night for the backfield. Arizona's running backs only averaged 1.8 yards per carry on 17 carries, and a banged up Nick Wilson tallied a career-low eight yards on six carries, although a poor night from the offensive line certainly didn't help the cause.
Receivers: B. Outside of an early drop from Samajie Grant, it was a solid night for the wideouts. Cayleb Jones had his best game of the season, getting eight catches for 131 yards and touchdown, even adding one 25 yard pass to Trey Griffey on an end-around. Johnny Jackson scored a late touchdown and added 64 yards.
Offensive line: C. Wildcats didn't allow Washington State to sack either Randall or Solomon, but it also didn't open up much running room for the Wildcats running game to work before Randall started running the ball. Outside of Randall, Arizona only had 71 rushing yards on 22 carries.
DEFENSE
Front: D+. With Arizona loading up on defensive backs, it wasn't really a front "seven" as the Wildcats rarely played more than two linebackers at once and typically had as many as six defensive backs on the field. Few outside of defensive lineman Jeff Worthy (2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks) and linebacker Paul Magloire (game-high 11 tackles) produced. Wazzu quarterback Luke Falk wasn't pressured much and feasted on Arizona's young secondary.
Back seven: F. It was another rough night for Arizona's secondary, which was made up of young players. Freshmen Jace Whittaker and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles and sophomore Kwesi Mashack all started or received significant playing time, and the inexperience showed. Cougars wideout Gabe Marks caught four touchdowns, River Cracraft had 100-plus yards and Falk completed passes to 10 different receivers, nine of which had at least two catches.
Special teams: B+. The star unit of the night for Arizona. Nate Phillips had the first punt return touchdown since DaVonte' Neal had one last year against the Cougars. Casey Skowron didn't attempt any field goals, but converted all six of his extra point attempts. Drew Riggleman averaged 49.3 yards on three punts, including one pinning Washington State inside the 20-yard line. The special-teamers would've earned an 'A' had Shun Brown not fumbled a second-quarter kickoff, leading to a Cougars score.
