Add two more All-American accolades for Arizona baseball’s top performers of 2025.

UA closer Tony Pluta earned his sixth such honor when D1Baseball named him a second-team All-American on Thursday. D1Baseball also found a spot for UA shortstop Mason White, naming him a third-team All-American at DH.

Arizona’s Mason White reacts as he jogs to first base after being hit by a pitch off Louisville’s Ethan Eberle during the first inning in Game 5 of the Men’s College World Series at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Neb., on June 15, 2025.

Pluta’s breakout season saw him go 3-0 with a school-record 14 saves. He finished with a 1.46 ERA, a 0.95 WHIP and a .219 batting average against.

Pluta secured the final outs in the Big 12 Tournament championship game and the last two games of the Super Regional at North Carolina, collecting two wins and a save without being charged with a run.

White made his mark on the UA record book after notching career highs of 20 home runs and 73 RBIs. The Salpointe Catholic High School product ranks second on Arizona’s all-time leaderboard with 49 home runs, and his 111 extra-base hits are the most in UA annals.

Arizona reliever Tony Pluta (37) unwinds a pitch as he works the bottom of the ninth for his 11th save against TCU on May 2, 2025, at Hi Corbett Field.

White was named MVP of the Big 12 Tournament and the NCAA Tournament’s Eugene Regional.

Pluta and White are draft-eligible juniors, and both could be selected in next month’s MLB Draft. White has a higher projection and should go within the first five rounds. Pluta is trickier because his measurables (listed at 5-9, fastball in the low 90s) don’t stack up to his intangibles (Big 12 Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, CSC Academic All-District).
