Arizona overcame sickness, weather and a late-inning deficit to win a pivotal series at West Virginia on Sunday.
Mason White gave the UA the lead with a two-run home run that fueled a six-run eighth inning and propelled the Wildcats to an 11-4 victory over the Mountaineers at Kendrick Family Ballpark in Morgantown.

Arizona took the series, two games to one, and improved to 5-1 in the Big 12. The Wildcats are 18-5 overall and have won 18 of their past 20 games.
West Virginia, which took an 18-1 record into the series, fell to 19-3, 2-2.
Arizona hit four home runs, including two by junior catcher Adonys Guzman.
Right-hander Casey Hintz earned the win to improve to 5-0. He pitched three innings of one-hit, no-run relief. Hintz followed Tony Pluta, who pitched two hitless innings.
Arizona trailed 4-3 entering the top of the eighth. White gave the Wildcats the lead with a moonshot to right-center field.

The home run was White’s fourth of the season and the 33rd of his career, tied for seventh most in UA annals. He hadn’t homered since March 1.
Arizona tacked on four more runs in the inning. Andrew Cain contributed a two-RBI double. TJ Adams also drove in a run with a double.
Guzman’s second home run came in the ninth inning and bumped the lead to 11-4. Guzman is tied with White for the team lead with four homers.
Arizona welcomed back second baseman Garen Caulfield, who missed the first two games of the series because of an illness. Caulfield went 1 for 4 and scored three runs.
UA right fielder Brendan Summerhill exited in the sixth inning because of a hand injury. Summerhill also was under the weather.
The Wildcats opened the series by winning a 16-inning marathon Friday night. UA pitchers struck out 29 West Virginia batters, breaking a school record that had stood for more than 80 years.
WVU snapped Arizona’s 10-game winning streak with an 11-3 triumph Saturday afternoon.
Despite their winning ways since the opening weekend, the Wildcats hadn’t been ranked in D1Baseball’s Top 25 since the preseason. They are expected to re-enter the rankings Monday.
Arizona begins a four-game homestand Wednesday vs. Seattle. The UA hosts Baylor next weekend.
