Through three games, the Pima College men’s basketball team is blowing out everyone it plays.
The Aztecs’ latest rout was 123-70 over visiting Arizona Christian JV on Thursday, as Brock Mendoza scored 26 points to go with 11 rebounds.
Isaac Johnson had 23 points and 12 rebounds for Pima, which led 49-28 at halftime and then scored 74 points in the second half.
Pima College’s Brock Mendoza had 26 points and 11 rebounds in the 123-70 win over Arizona Christian JV on Nov. 13.
The Aztecs (3-0) won their first two games by scores of 141-67 and 132-53. Their average score in a game so far this season is 132-63.
Pima is next in action at home Wednesday at 4 p.m. against Park University-Gilbert JV.
— Johnson was named the ACCAC Division II Player of the Week from Nov. 2-8 after averaging 29.5 points over two games, while shooting an incredible 90.3% (28 of 31) from the field.
Women’s basketball
The No. 4-ranked Aztecs capped a 2-1 stay at the SC4 Thumbcoast Tip-Off Tournament in Port Huron, Mich., on Saturday with a 91-54 win over SUNY Niagara.
Ahdiayh Chee scored a game-high 27 points off the bench for the Aztecs (3-2), who jumped to a 43-25 lead at the half and 74-34 by the end of the third quarter.
Kiley Sours-Miller had a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
Friday, Pima fell 86-68 to No. 7 Illinois Central College. The Aztecs opened the tournament with an 87-63 win over St. Clair County (Mich.) CC on Thursday.
The Aztecs host Yavapai College in a nonconference game at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Women’s soccer
Pima is the No. 6 seed for the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Wichita, Kan. Its pool play games are against No. 10 Sussex County (N.J). CC on Monday and vs. No. 3 Heartland (Ill.) CC on Tuesday. The Aztecs (13-1-5) earned an automatic bid by winning the Region I, Division II/West District Championship
Men’s soccer
The Aztecs are the No. 7 overall seed for the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Wichita, Kan. Pima was scheduled to open the event against No. 11 St. Clair County (Mich.) CC in pool play Monday, and then take on No. 2 Iowa Lakes CC on Tuesday. Pima (16-3) earned an at-large bid after losing to Phoenix College in the Region I, Division II finals.
