Arizona Athletics posted a school-record Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 89%, the department announced Wednesday. That tops the previous mark of 87% set in 2020 and ’22.

Division I athletes as a whole achieved a record high of 91%.

The figures released Wednesday pertain to student-athletes who entered college in 2016, according to the NCAA. Graduation rates are based on completion of a degree within six years of entry into college.

"The unrivaled academic excellence of Arizona student-athletes continues with this important milestone," UA athletic director Dave Heeke said in a news release. "Our department's record-breaking success in the classroom is a championship standard that we repeatedly exceed in a variety of key metrics.

“Our mission of developing academic, athletic and life champions continues to be at the core of who we are, and we are building on Arizona Athletics' legacy of excellence each semester. I want to congratulate our student-athletes and our dedicated C.A.T.S. Academics staff for continuing to live the Wildcat Way to its fullest and for helping make our athletics department one of the nation's best."

Arizona’s GSR has risen by 22% since 2011, according to the school. Six programs had 100% scores in this year’s report: women's basketball, women's golf, gymnastics, women's tennis, beach volleyball and men's track and field.

Arizona’s GSR scores over the past seven years:

  • 2023: 89%
  • 2022: 87%
  • 2021: 86%
  • 2020: 87%
  • 2019: 86%
