With contracts signed and everything locked up, the Arizona women’s basketball program has released its nonconference schedule for the 2024-25 season.
The Wildcats will start out the slate with UT-Arlington on Nov. 4 at home. The last time they played the Mavericks was in December of 2022, a 78-59 win, in Arlington a few days after they defeated then-No. 18 Baylor, 75-54, in the Pac-12 Coast-to-Coast Challenge.
The highlights of the home games include UNLV on Nov. 12, Grambling State on Nov. 23 and Grand Canyon on Dec. 5. UA Coach Adia Barnes said for years she wanted to play in-state teams during nonconference, “It’s good experience for both (teams); it’s good for fans.”
This will be the first time UA and GCU will play.
Arizona will play another in-state team NAU, in Flagstaff on Nov. 20.
As previously reported, Arizona will play in the Acrisure Classic in the Palm Springs, California, area over Thanksgiving. The first matchup will be against Vanderbilt on Nov. 26, who the Wildcats faced two years ago in the Paradise Jam tournament before winning 48-46 on a last-second layup by former UA standout Shaina Pellington. UA will play either Cal or Michigan State the following day.
UA finishes out with four home games in December: Seattle U (Dec. 2), GCU (Dec. 5), CSU Bakersfield (Dec. 10) and Weber State (Dec. 16).
The Wildcats, who will play eight home games during nonconference, will start out with two exhibition games at McKale Center on Oct. 25 against West Texas A&M and Oct. 29 against Cal State LA.
