Lauryn Swann’s big week continued as she was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week on Monday.

This is Swann’s second weekly honor as her first one came for her performances for the week of Nov. 11 when she scored 19 points in a 75-66 victory over UNLV (going 8 of 9 from the field) and followed it up with 12 points against Chicago State. She shot 64.7% from the field and 66.7% from beyond the arc that week.

This past week, the 5-7 guard, scored a career-high 22 points (8 of 11 and 6 of 7 from long range) in a 69-48 loss to Utah. This performance earned her a spot in the starting lineup in Saturday’s 75-53 win at UCF.

Swann came out with intensity knocking down a 3-pointer in the opening minutes of the game. She would go on to stuff the stat sheet — scoring six points, pulling down three rebounds, picking a career-high three steals and dishing two assists (this tied her career high which she had against GCU and Vanderbilt) in 22 minutes of action.

Arizona guard Lauryn Swann hits a 3-pointer for the Wildcats during the game against Utah at McKale Center on Dec. 31, 2024.

Across the two games she went 10 for 17 from the field and made 8 of 12 from long range. She is now hitting 38% from beyond the arc and 48% from the field.

Swann is the only Wildcat to win Big 12 weekly honors in Arizona’s first season in the league.
