USC quarterback Caleb Williams is sacked by Arizona defensive lineman Russell Davis II during the first half on Oct. 7 in Los Angeles.

Arizona sophomore edge rusher Russell Davis II will officially transfer from the program, he announced on X (Twitter)Β Monday afternoon.

The Wildcats also lost three-star 2024 cornerback Rahim Wright, who was granted release from his national letter of intent and committed to Washington. Three-star linebacker Stacy Bey, Wright's teammate at Rancho Cucamonga High School in Southern California, is expected to stay at Arizona.

Wright is the latest UA recruit to follow head coach Jedd Fisch and his staff to Washington, joining Chandler Basha High School star quarterback and four-star prospect Demond Williams, three-star Phoenix-area running back Adam Mohammed and Indiana transfer cornerback Jordan Shaw.Β

Arizona starting running back Jonah Coleman and cornerback Ephesians Prysock are also transferring to Washington after two seasons in Tucson.Β Β

Davis entered the transfer portal last week, along with starting defensive end Isaiah Ward.Β

Davis, a former star at Chandler Hamilton High School and Arizona state high school sacks leader, appeared in 11 games for the Wildcats as a sophomore and tallied 16 tackles and 3.5 sacks. The 6-3, 220-pound Davis was a part of the Wildcats' loaded 2022 recruiting class and competed for a starting role in '23, but remained a reserve edge rusher.Β

With Davis, Ward and Taylor Upshaw, who finished his last year of eligibility, no longer at Arizona, the Wildcats' defensive ends are down to junior Ta'ita'i Uiagalelei, sophomore Dominic Lolesio, redshirt freshmen Julian Savaiinaea and Tristan Davis, sophomore Nick Fernandez and incoming true freshman Eduwa Okundaye.Β

Defensive line, especially on the edge, and cornerback will be a position of need for the Wildcats this offseason.

With Tacario Davis, who is in the transfer portal, Prysock, Wright and Shaw no longer with the team, Arizona's options at cornerback include nickel back Treydan Stukes, redshirt freshman Jai-Ayviauynn Celestine, freshman Emmanuel Karnley and four-star Seattle cornerback Rahshawn Clark, albeit he's likely to go to Washington.Β

Brent Brennan was officially announced as the head coach of the Arizona Wildcats on Tuesday. Brennan flew to Tucson and walked into Arizona Stadium with the Pride of Arizona playing "Bear Down, Arizona" and mascots Wilbur and Wilma greeting the new UA coach.
