Arizona wide receiver Luke Wysong (15) scrambles after his muffed punt during the third quarter against Oklahoma State, Oct. 4, 2025, in Tucson.
Head to Head
94 Palmer Williams vs. 15 Luke Wysong
Williams is arguably the best punter in Baylor history after signing with the Bears as the top-ranked punter for the 2023 recruiting cycle, according Chris Sailer Kicking ratings. Last season, Williams averaged 49.3 yards per punt, which is the best single-season average in Baylor history — and the best in college football in 2024. Williams' 47.3 average is tops in the Big 12 this season.
The first time Wysong played a game in Tucson, it was then called Arizona Stadium and he was on the opposing team. Wysong had eight catches for 129 yards and a touchdown in New Mexico's loss to Arizona last season. Wysong's first and last game at Casino Del Sol Stadium will be on Saturday. Wysong is averaging 10.2 yards per punt return this season.
Arizona defensive back Treydan Stukes speaks to reporters on media day at the Davis Sports Center on July 29, 2025.
6 Ashtyn Hawkins vs. 2 Treydan Stukes
Hawkins is suspended for the first half on Saturday for throwing a punch during a skirmish in Baylor's blowout loss to Utah last week. Hawkins could have a major impact on Baylor's offense in the second half against Arizona. Hawkins has the third-most receiving yards at Baylor this season and is 14th in the Big 12 in receiving. Hawkins had seven catches for 119 yards against Utah.
Stukes and the rest of Arizona's secondary will take on arguably their biggest challenge of the season when they face a Baylor team that has the best passing offense in the Big 12, averaging 324.4 yards per game. In addition to covering Baylor's speedy undersized receivers, Stukes will also be tasked with slowing down tight end Michael Trigg, who has the second-most receiving yards at BU.
The matchup
When Arizona has the ball …
Arizona has rushed for over 160 yards in the last three games and the Wildcats' stable of running backs — Ismail Mahdi, Kedrick Reescano and Quincy Craig — had notable moments in all three games, whether it was Craig's game-winning touchdown against Kansas, Reescano's 50-yard touchdown at Cincinnati or Mahdi's 27-yard touchdown to set the tone last week. To keep Baylor's offense on the sidelines as much as possible, UA could rely on the run game.
When Baylor has the ball …
The Bears statistically have the best passing attack in the Big 12, which could play into Arizona's favor considering the Wildcats have the best passing defense in the Big 12, surrendering 159.5 passing yards per game. Arizona has only given up eight passing touchdowns all season. Baylor is eighth in the Big 12 in offensive efficiency and has thrown the third-most interceptions (9). Taking care of the ball is imperative against Arizona.
College Football 26 prediction: BU 31, UA 13
Arizona fell behind 21-13 and settled for field goals on two trips to the red zone and played catch-up the entire game. Baylor star wide receiver Josh Cameron, who currently leads the Bears in receiving, had two touchdowns against the Wildcats. If reality matches EA Sports' college football video game, then Baylor will have a two-game winning streak over the Wildcats. The streak would date back to 1992, when the Bears beat Arizona in the 1992 Sun Bowl — then called the John Hancock Bowl.
