Ava Dagnino scored twice, and Brooke Valencia had a career night as Pima College women’s soccer coach Kendra Veliz earned her 300th career victory.

The No. 13-ranked Aztecs topped No. 8 Scottsdale CC at home 2-1 on Tuesday night to improve to 10-1-5 overall and 10-0-3 in the ACCAC.

Dagnino has 13 goals this year after scoring in the 18th and 48th minutes. Scottsdale managed to cut the lead to 2-1 in the 54th minute but could draw no closer despite outshooting Pima 14-6.

Pima goalkeeper Valencia finished with a career-high 13 saves.

Veliz is 300-25-35 in 24 seasons.

Kristal Navarro assisted on Dagnino’s first goal, while Gabriela Mendoza assisted on the second.

Pima closes the regular season with a game at Mesa CC at 5:45 p.m. Saturday.

Men’s soccer

Leonel Gutierrez scored twice and Pima notched its eighth shutout of the season with a 4-0 win over visiting Scottsdale CC on Tuesday night.

It was the last regular-season home game of the year for the No. 6 Aztecs (14-2, 11-2).

Gutierrez scored in the 12th and 18th minutes to give Pima a quick 2-0 lead. The Salpointe Catholic High grad has 18 goals this season.

Edgar Leyva-Miranda scored in the 39th minute, and Lae Soe found the net in the 76th to wrap up the scoring.

Eythan Mancilla had two assists for Pima, which closes out the regular season with a game at Mesa CC at 8 p.m. Saturday.
