Tucson native and former Arizona Wildcats wide receiver Drew Dixon is heading to the NFL after signing an undrafted free agent deal with the Green Bay Packers.
Dixon, a standout at Division II Limestone University in Gaffney, South Carolina, will be at Green Bay's rookie minicamp next month. The Packers drafted fellow Tucson native and Arizona left tackle Jordan Morgan, Dixon's former UA teammate, with the 25th overall pick of the NFL Draft.
In two seasons at Limestone, Dixon appeared in 17 games and caught 72 passes for 1,133 yards and nine touchdowns.
Dixon started his collegiate career in 2017 and signed with the hometown Wildcats, after a standout career as a quarterback and wide receiver at Sabino High School, where he led the Sabercats to a state championship appearance as a senior. Dixon redshirted his freshman under former head coach Rich Rodriguez, then played three seasons for Kevin Sumlin, before entering the transfer portal following the pandemic-influenced 2020 season.
In four seasons at Arizona, Dixon caught 17 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns. His top performance was a four-catch, 46-yard and one-touchdown outing against Northern Arizona in 2019.
NFL rookie minicamps begin in May.
