Top seeds Cienega and Phoenix Horizon Honors dominated with sweeps in the 5A state semifinals Wednesday night. No. 3 Salpointe Catholic saw its season end just shy of the final at the expense of the second-seeded Eagles.

No. 1 Cienega reached the championship match losing just one set in its postseason run, taking victories of 3-1 over Gilbert Mesquite, 3-0 over Glendale Deer Valley and 3-0 over Gilbert Campo Verde on Wednesday.Β 

Horizon Honors, meanwhile, has yet to lose a set, sweeping Glendale Ironwood, Catalina Foothills and the Lancers.
