2016 Arizona Bowl

Air Force won the Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl last year. The bowl game will be televised by CBS Sports Network starting this year.

The Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl took a significant step toward greater national exposure Tuesday.

Tucson’s bowl game reached a multiyear television partnership with CBS Sports Network, starting with this year’s game, which will take place Saturday, Dec. 30.

The Arizona Bowl is entering its third season and features teams from the Mountain West and Sun Belt conferences, which have commitments to the game through 2019. The agreement with CBS Sports Network is believed to be for three years.

“We have worked diligently to advance the bowl each year in an effort to give the conferences, schools, student-athletes and fans a first-class bowl experience,” Ali Farhang, chairman of the Arizona Bowl, said in a news release.

“The opportunity to affiliate the Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl with CBS Sports Network will increase the awareness and visibility of the bowl and our exceptional community.”

The first two iterations of the Arizona Bowl were broadcast by the American Sports Network and streamed by CampusInsiders.com. KWBA carried the game locally.

American Sports Network is in the midst of a merger and rebranding, according to media reports. Campus Insiders no longer will be involved with the broadcast.

Air Force defeated South Alabama 45-21 in the second Arizona Bowl last December in front of an announced crowd of 33,868 at Arizona Stadium.
