Hugo Kametani scored in the 22nd minute and Chris Cooper scored 10 minutes later, and Pima College topped Illinois Central College 3-1 on Tuesday in the first game of pool play at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Prescott.

The fourth-seeded Aztecs (18-4-3) will take on No. 1 St. Louis Community College at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, with the winner advancing to the NJCAA semifinals.

Kametani’s goal came from 12 yards out and following a pass from freshman Daisuke Takanaka. Kametani then assistaed on Cooper’s goal, and Pima took a 2-0 lead into halftime. Illinois Central attempted just one shot in the first half. Jose Romero scored in the 62nd minute to extend the Aztecs’ lead to 3-0. Illinois Central ended the shutout with a goal in the 85th minute.
