Tucson's American Hockey League team-to-be-named later will have an identity soon.

Saturday, in fact.

The team's name and new logo will be unveiled at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Tucson Convention Center. The NHL's Arizona Coyotes, who own the club, will hold a select-a-seat event for season-ticket depositors from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and for the general public from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. The event will also feature a virtual slapshot experience for fans, and kids 12 and under can play ball hockey on the event floor.

The team name — Roadrunners? Sonoran Dogs? Tarantulas? — has been a subject of great speculation ever since May 17, when the Coyotes announced that they had purchased their Springfield, Massachusetts affiliate and were moving it to Tucson. Thousands of fans entered a name-the-team contest on ArizonaCoyotes.com for two weeks following the announcement. The winner of the contest is expected to be named during Saturday's festivities.
