Former Arizona Wildcats and NFL star Tedy Bruschi was watching from a finish-line area hotel during at the time of today's Boston Marathon blast but is safe, his charity posted this afternoon.
"All staff and Tedy's Team runners are accounted for," said a message on the charity's Facebook page. "We send our thoughts and prayers to the rest of Boston."Β
Bruschi sponsors a charity team every year at the Boston Marathon, with proceeds benefiting the American Stroke Association. Bruschi suffered a stroke in 2005.Β
Bruschi was set to watch the end of today's race from the Lenox Hotel, located near the finish line, but was evacuated following the blast. Β Bruschi was in Tucson over the weekend to take part in UA alumni activities, but returned home in time for the race. Bruschi and his wife Heidi, a former UA volleyball and softball player, ran the marathon together a year ago.Β
