In the fall of 2018, Canyon del Oro High school running back Stevie Rocker rushed for 1,163 yards and was called by some “the next Ka’Deem Carey.”
It didn’t work that way; Rocker was injured much of his junior and senior seasons at CDO, but was still good enough to earn a scholarship from Arizona and play for the Wildcats as a true freshman in 2021, rushing for 159 yards. Then came the bad luck: Rocker was injured much of 2022 and 2023 and played in just one game at Arizona before transferring to Montana, where he had his finest moment.
Rocker
In May, Rocker signed up for the National Marrow Donor Program with six other Montana players. After clinical research, Rocker was found to be a perfect match with a 6-year-old boy from Argentina. Rocker flew to KU Medical Center in Kansas City and had bone marrow removed from his spine. The young recipient is said to be doing well.
Rocker returned to Montana and got himself in shape for his senior season with the No. 4-ranked (FCS) Grizzlies, who are 5-0. He has rushed for 149 yards and caught 10 passes for 81 yards. I would call his career a rocking success.
