Former Arizona Wildcat kicker Nick Folk made his 425th NFL field goal last week, a 27-24 game-winner for the New York Jets against the Atlanta Falcons.

New York Jets place kicker Nick Folk celebrates with teammates after he kicked the game-winning field goal against the Atlanta Falcons during the second half, Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, in East Rutherford, N.J.

With 11 more field goals this season, Folk will join the NFL's Top 10 career list. His 20 game-winners are ranked No. 19 in NFL history. The older he gets, the better the 41-year-old Folk gets. He made his career-long field goal, 58 yards, this season.

Folk is nearing another record: the oldest ex-Wildcats active in pro sports. In baseball, Hall of Fame reliever Trevor Hoffman pitched until he was 42. In basketball, Jason Terry played in the NBA until he was 40. No other ex-Wildcat played in the NFL past the age 35; offensive lineman Glenn Parker played until he was 35, as did linebacker Tedy Bruschi.

But there's one record Folk probably has no shot at: former UA golfer Jim Furyk played on the PGA Tour until he was 49, or 26 seasons at the highest level.

I still maintain that Folk is no better than No. 4 among field goal kickers in UA history. My easy pick as No. 1 is Max Zendejas, Mr. Clutch. whose walk-off game-winners against ASU (1983, 1985) and Notre Dame (1982) puts him in a higher category. He made 77 field goals at Arizona. That puts him ahead of 1994 Arizona consensus All-American Steve McLaughlin (50 field goals at Arizona) and current Baltimore Ravens rookie Tyler Loop, who made 67 field goals at Arizona but not with the dramatics of Zendejas. Folk made 30 field goals at Arizona.
