In the college football industry, Jedd Fisch is known as much for his pursuit of economic advantages as he is for his ability to recruit at a high level and surround himself with quality assistant coaches and front-office personnel.
Fisch might’ve hit it out of the park the other day when he and his new school, Washington, announced it will hold a $25,000-a-plate-dinner with Super Bowl coach Bill Belichick on Friday, Oct. 4, the night before Washington plays host to Michigan.
Yes, $25,000 per plate.
“We need to raise money for our NIL collective,’’ said Fisch. “How many people in the world dream of having a dinner with a man who has won eight Super Bowls?’’
Here’s an idea: Why doesn’t Arizona host an NIL fund-raising dinner with Steve Kerr, who has nine NBA championships, five as a player, four as a coach, plus an Olympic coaching gold medal?
How about Saturday, Nov. 16? The Golden State Warriors are free that weekend. It would be a fitting run-up to the UA-Duke game on Nov. 22 at McKale Center.
Wouldn’t that have as much or more juice in Tucson as a Belichick visit would have in Seattle?
