Staying out of the heat doesn't mean you have to stay in your house all summer.
Get the kids out with some free, educational activities at Bookmans. Or take your doggie out to the Tucson Botanical Gardens.
Bookmans Free Days
Bookmans is hosting free, interactive activities for all children this summer every Wednesday through Friday.
It kicks off with a puppet show by Puppet Amongus on Wednesday, May 31, at Bookmans East — then on Thursday at Bookmans Midtown and on Friday at Bookmans Northwest at 10 a.m. Themes vary each week and there's AC (check out the full list of events on bookmans.com).
The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum will be at Bookmans the week of June 14 with nocturnal animals.
And on July 19, children can team up or go at it alone to in the Lego Build Off. There will be snacks, a movie, and a photo booth.

Summer Oasis Series

Baron and Baby chill on a bench during a previous year’s Dog Days of Summer event at the Tucson Desert Botanical Gardens.
This one's for your doge.
Dog Days of Summer is back as part of the Summer Oasis Series at the Tucson Botanical Gardens. And with that comes Dog Portraits in the Garden, Twilight Thursday, and Frida Fridays.
That means you can take your dog to the gardens for $3 over the summer. You'll enjoy the walk, too. And on June 9, $10 gets you and your pup into the Gardens for a portrait during Dog Portraits in the Garden between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m.
Dogs also welcome during Twilight Thursdays and Frida Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m. Stop by for dinner or just take a stroll when the sun isn't beaming on you.
Pro tip: If you make a dinner reservation at Café Botanica during Twilight Thursdays and Frida Fridays, you don't have to pay admission because it's included with dinner. Call (520) 326-9686 ex. *37.
