Guitarist Leila Lopez (cq left-LEILA LOPEZ) and violinist Christabelle Merrill (cq CHRISTABELLE MERRILL) perform the opening act at the annual Music in the Canyon (cq Music in the Canyon) by the Friends of Sabino Canyon (cq FRIENDS OF SABINO CANYON) on Sunday, March 6, 2011, in Tucson, Ariz. For 16 years the Friends have produced this event as a "thank you" to their supporters and to the community, said Dave Bushell (cq DAVE BUSHELL), the president of the organization. A long list of local bands, including The Mission Creeps, Keli Carpenter, Mitzi Dasheya Cowell and the Leila Lopez Band (Leila featured above on left,) will take the stage as part of a show dubbed "Won't You be My Neighbor" on Sunday in support of the International Rescue Committee.

The IRC "responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future," according to its website.Β 

The groups will perform at 191 Toole, at 191 East Toole Avenue, starting at 3 p.m. and every last penny of your $5 admission goes to the organization.Β
