Thursday, July 20 — Watch the biggest WWII-era epic of 2017

Director Christopher Nolan rarely does anything small. 

Many of his films are masterworks with lush scene-scapes and epic scores. Some of his works over the last decade include "Interstellar," "Inception" and "Batman Rises."

This weekend, Nolan will unleash his latest project into the world: "Dunkirk," about the early WWII Dunkirk evacuation of 1940.

Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, Harry Styles and Cillian Murphy help round out this mega-cast of actors, mostly playing British, French, Belgian and Canadian soldiers, attempting to flee Dunkirk, France, before the Germans get to them.

The movie has its first screenings in Tucson on Thursday night.
