Looking for something different to do with the family?

Check out Tucson's TENWEST Festival, a 10-day event featuring more than 100 events for adults and families that encourage curiosity and discovery in Southern Arizona. 

The festival takes place Oct. 12-21 at several venues downtown. A $25 pass will get you into all of the events. (More on that below).

Festivities geared toward adults include a film fest, a workshop on podcasting, a startup showcase, a social impact summit, agave tasting, live performances, puppy yoga, a women's leadership conference, bike rides and more. You can get into all of those with a $25 pass. Kids 12-and-under get into all events free. Go here for more info.

There are also free festivities for the whole family. Here are four.

Outdoor family movie

What: "Science Fair" is a heartwarming film about a mentor and nine students from around the world who follow their passions to the International Science and Engineering Fair. Check out the STEAM activities with the Pima County Public Library and Children's Museum Tucson before the film. 

When: Friday, Oct. 12, activities start at 5 p.m. Film starts at 6:30 p.m. 

Where: Scottish Rite Cathedral, 160 S. Scott Ave. 

Cost: Free, no pass required

Tactical Urbanism Block Party

What: Transform the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Seventh Street with paint, community art and planters. When it's done, stay for the street party with DJs, food trucks and more. 

When: Sat. Oct. 20, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Where: Sixth Ave. and Seventh Street

Cost: Free, no pass required

Bear Down Town

What: Hidden around downtown there are five festival stations. At each one get your card punched, grab a ticket and receive a clue to the next stop on your journey. If you find all five you'll be entered in a grand prize drawing, which will be held at the finale party at City High School Pennington, 47 E. Pennington Street, at 8:30 p.m.

When: Saturday, Oct. 13, 6-10 p.m. 

Where: Downtown

Cost: Free, no pass required

Second Sundaze Family Day

What: As part of Discover Local, which is the kick-off event for TenWest Festival, residents of Arizona and Sonora can get into Tucson Museum of Art for free. You can see the new 30 Americans exhibit and participate in a variety of activities such as a Kehinde Wiley (Obama portraitist) inspired photo station, a silhouette and collage art-making projects and live music. 

When: Sunday, Oct. 14, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Where: Tucson Museum of Art, 140 N. Main Ave.

Cost: Free, no pass required
