Hiking in Sabino Canyon

The Adams family, visiting from Denver, Colo., stop for a water break while hiking along the Bear Canyon Trail during the cooler morning hours at Sabino Canyon Recreation Area, 5900 N. Sabino Canyon Road, on June 1, 2017, in Tucson, Ariz. From left are dad Sean, Nick and Ava (both 11) and mom Kathy. In the cart, obscured from view are Annie, 2, and Mackenzie, 3.

You don't have to be stuck in the house Friday if you don't plan on going shopping.Β

In fact, there are some pretty cool things to do that barely cost any money.Β

So, go out. Have fun. Don't shop.Β

Go for a hike

Hikers on the Pima Canyon Trail.

With weather like this, it would be a crime NOT to go outside. Even if it's a walk through your neighborhood.Β

We like hiking. And there are lots of places to go here.Β

The Pima Canyon Trail is a good one to take the family on. Well, for about three miles. After that it gets a little harder. You'll see desert vegetation and maybe flowing water.Β

To get there from West Ina and North Oracle roads, go east on Ina to Christie Drive. Take that north to Magee and turn east. You'll come to a parking lot at the trail head.Β
