Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium

Tanque Verde Elementary School students take their seats inside the theater for a projection show about the solar system.

Here's something to add to your list of Tucson holiday traditions — planetarium shows at Flandrau.

The kids will love the "Laser Holidays" show, which features laser lights dancing across the planetarium to popular seasonal songs like "The Christmas Song" by Nat King Cole, "All I Want for Christmas is You" by Mariah Carey and more.

"Season of Light" will get you in the spirit by exploring the many festivals of light, including Christmas and Hanukkah, that celebrate the spirit of renewal around the Winter Solstice. You'll learn about how the festivals of light were inspired by the darkness of winter and how those traditions connect back to astronomy.

While you're there for the show, check out the Science Center Exhibits and the UA Mineral Museum. There are hands-on exhibits and cool things to look at and learn from.

Mia Moon, 8, and Rutvik Pateo, 8, from Fulton Elementary School, help prevent a mock uranium leak at the Flaundrau Science Center and Planetarium.
