Leeann Hoang, 22, laughs as she works a balloon burst booth with Dane Anderson, 21, left, to benefit the Vietnamese Student Association.

UA's backyard carnival is back with rides, activities and funnel cake. You've probably already seen the tents go up.

Here's the breakdown

You're about to spend lots

Admission is $5 and tickets range from $5 to $30

• 10 tickets for $5

• 20 tickets for $10

• 40 tickets for $20

• The unlimited-ride wristband is available on Friday and Sunday only for $30.

But there are discounts

So take advantage. Children under 7 and anyone with a military ID or CatCard gets in for free all weekend. That means you don't have to pay the $5 admission.

FRIDAY - Middle and high school students don't have to pay for admission. And you can also get $5 off a wristband with your donation of four non-perishable items.

SUNDAY - You can get free admission if you donate two children's book to the Reading Seed, flashing an active alumni ID, and bringing in an empty recyclable Coca Cola product. You can also get $5 off a wristband with your donation of four non-perishable items.

It's totally family-friendly

There's a Kids Korner on Friday and Sunday. Sunday is the best day for it because Wilbur and Wilma will be there to entertain and take photos, along with other friends. There's also face painting and coloring on both days. And it's all included in admission.

You can buy food there

Fry bread, chicken and waffles, s'mores in a cup (!) are some of the food options available (check out the rest here).

Don't forget! Food is not included in the wristband cost. You have to buy tickets separately for that (food ranges from 6-16 tickets).

University Boulevard is full of restaurants if you want to eat before you head to the carnival. You can eat at Chipotle, or Pei Wei, or be fancy at Wilko, or eat some greek food at Pelio Grill. Yum!

Oh, and there are games

It's a carnival.

You can impress your date by winning them a teddy bear plush but like the food, these games are not included in the wristband cost. You need tickets to play games.

Two more things ...

• The money you spend goes to UA clubs and organizations.

• You need to buy tickets to play games and eat food.
