If you've ever said "that would be awesome on a doughnut," now's your chance to prove it to the world. Well, to Arizona, at least.
Bashas' Supermarkets is holding its annual Donut Flavor Craze Contest, in which contestants get to come up with their very own concoction for a chance at becoming an official doughnut ambassador (yes, that's actually a thing).
Children ages 8-17 can let their imaginations run wild in the sweets category, while adults, ages 18-and-over — for the first year ever — get to let loose in the savory category.
The Unicorn was a finalist in the 2017 Bashas' Flavor Craze Donut Contest.
There will be two winners, one sweet and one savory, which will be announced May 29.
Both donuts will be featured in Bashas' bakery cases around Arizona during the month of June. Additionally, the winning entrants in each category will receive one dozen doughnuts every month for a year and a Bashas' gift card. Finalists will also receive a Bashas' gift card.
How it works
Arizona residents ages 8-17 and 17-plus will write a 100-word description of their best doughnut idea, including the proposed name, key ingredients and why their doughnut should win and submit it here.
Ten finalists will be announced May 14. The public will then be able to vote for their favorite creation on the Bashas' FB page May 15-18.
The people's choice winners selected on Facebook, along with the winning flavors selected by a panel of local judges will be announced May 29.
