Newlyweds, you have wedding stuff.
New brides, you need wedding stuff.
That's why the Bride to Bride Flea Market is a win-win.
On Saturday, Feb. 25, newly-married couples can sell wedding leftovers to engaged couples looking to spruce up their own big day.
Because let's be honest: Who actually needs 125 flowers made out of newspaper sitting in the garage forevermore?
The flea market at the Tucson Convention Center, 260 S. Church Ave., is the first in a nine-city tour for this new business endeavor launched by sisters Erin Stubbe, 30, and Christen Overman, 34. Phoenix is the next stop.
After Stubbe got married in April, she found herself with loads of wedding knickknacks she no longer needed. In her hometown of Omaha, Nebraska, she and some other newly-married friends organized two sales.
People loved it. Lines to get in stretched out the door.
"I had this white picket fence I made into a seating chart holder, and we charged $30 for it," Stubbe says. "My husband said, 'There is no way you're getting that much. This is a fence we literally took from our backyard.' It sold right away. The cool, unique stuff, brides are willing to pay for."
Couples interested in selling their own wedding wares can private message the sisters through the Bride to Bride Flea Market Facebook page until Friday. It costs $25 to participate, and all sellers are responsible for setting up, tearing down and pricing their own items. Stubbe also discourages brides from selling wedding dresses there.
For those interested in shopping, admission is $5 plus the cost of $10 parking at the TCC. Stubbe recommends bringing a box or bag to haul all of your loot and cash. Most vendors won't take cards.
Come early for the best stuff. Stay late for the possibly free stuff, as sellers sometimes slash prices as the day goes on.
The sale is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Tucson Convention Center, 260 S. Church Ave.
