Madison Gonsalves, a 3rd grader in Chandler, was last year's Arizona finalist for Google's doodle contest, which is open to kids in kindergarten through 12th grade in all 50 states.

Your child's obsession with doodling, scribbling and painting can pay off in a big way if they enter Google's doodle contest, which opened today.

To enter, participants will create a doodle of the Google logo, using any medium they choose with the theme: "What I see for the future..."

Drawings can be about anything they imagine the world's or their future to be, whether that's an epic family vacation to flying cars and living on another planet.Β

The contest is open to kids in kindergarten through 12th grade across the United States plus Guam and Puerto Rico.

A winner will be selected from each state and territory. Then the public will vote for their favorite doodle from 53 finalists. From there, the top five will be chosen and finally a national winner.Β

The national winner will have his or her artwork displayed on the Google homepage for a day, receive $30,000 toward a college scholarship, a Chromebook, an Android tablet and the opportunity to work with the Doodle team at the Googleplex in California. The child's school will also benefit by receiving $50,000 to spend on technology.Β

The other four national finalists will receive a $5,000 college scholarship, a trip to Google headquarters and an android tablet.

The state and territory winners will receive an Android tablet.

All finalists will have their work displayed in the Doodle 4 gallery.

Last year's state finalist for Arizona was Madison Gonsalves, a 3rd grader in Chandler.Β

The deadline to enter is noon on December 2.
