Another birthday for Tucson means it's time to frost the cactus cake, bring out the piΓ±ata and hope the monsoon storms will put on a spectacular lightning show at the end of the day.
There will also be a moment during the celebration where Tucson will take a long look at itself in the mirror and say, "What am I doing with my life? How will I know if this whole city is going to work out? Will I ever get married?!"
Don't worry, Tucson; just look to the stars! πππ
Stephanie Ellen St. Claire, a Tucson-based astrologist/psychic/medium, is going to help us make sense of this upcoming year with a little astrology knowledge and a prediction or two for good measure.
Grab some tea and channel your inner Walter Mercado, it's Tucson horoscope time.
Here's what St. Claire had to say:
Tucson is an Aquarius
We might be eating birthday cake this week, but Tucson's star chart begins on February 7, 1877 β the date Tucson officially became a city by incorporation. Just about a century shy from the date we typically recognize, August 20, 1775.
According to St. Claire, when conducting a reading for a town, astrologers will look at the incorporation date to determine its sign.
As a result, Tucson's sun sign is Aquarius, which ranges from Jan. 20 to Feb. 18.
The city is full of independent people
The sign Aquarius is ruled by the planet Uranus, and because Tucson's chart is opposite Uranus in the sign of Leo, the town attracts very independent people.
"It's people with strong belief systems, and very strong feelings and needs ofΒ independence in being able to do their own thing." St. Claire said. "Sort of like live and let live."
It's also a place of transformation
Pluto is also a big player in Tucson's birth chart as it is strongly placed with the Sun and Uranus. This planet represents transformation and personal power; digging deep within yourself. And if you can't take those vibes, you might have a hard time living in this city.
"Many people come here thinking this is where they always wanted to come (live) and they go though huge changes and sometimes people can't take it because their whole life changes,"Β St. Claire said. "They can't take the energy and a lot of people leave."
Tucson is going to be OK
Now let's turn our sights to Sagittarius, which is ruled by the planet Jupiter. This house exhibits qualities of idealism, like: higher education, traveling, sports, partying and staying physically fit.
In Tucson's birth chart, three planets line up very well in the sign of Sagittarius. This includes Jupiter; the planet of good fortune and abundance, Mars and the moon.
"What that means is people are very idealistic about how they want Tucson to be, it means that Tucson is somehow blessed and always taken care of, with Jupiter in its ruling sign of Sagittarius." St. Claire said. "Which is just so wonderful, you have no idea!"
St. Claire predicts hard times ahead for the world, but anticipates Tucson faring better than most cities in the next few years.
"The astrological chart is one of which there will be cooperation, the banding together of people." St. Claire said. "I'm not seeing rioting or revolutions, but I am in the rest of the country."
She also predicts Tucson will not run into any drought issues in the future because of Aquariuses' quality to be forward-thinking and plan ahead.Β
"Tucson is just going to fare better then most places. We're not going to have earthquakes or volcano action, obviously. The worst thing that can happen is a lack of water, but I really feel in that regard we will be taken care of as well," St. Claire said.
Buckle up Tucson, this year is going to be an interesting ride.
