🎶 Having fun isn’t hard when you’ve got a library card! 🎶
Over the years, the Pima County Public Library has seen its fair share of designs on its library card — everything from a red, yellow and blue background with a white saguaro to the shade of an earthy cactus green.
Now, Tucsonans have the opportunity to submit their own design for a limited-edition library card that will be released later this year at all Pima County Public Library branches.
This year’s Pima County Public Library library card design contest is open now until Wednesday, Aug. 14 at midnight. The contest is limited to one online entry per person. Six winners will be selected this year.
The contest’s theme is “Seasons of Pima County,” allowing locals to find inspiration from elements of their favorite season in the Old Pueblo — whether that’s wildflowers blooming in the spring or snow atop Mount Lemmon in the winter.

“Cards will be selected by a special art committee of library staff. In the final selection, the committee will prioritize diversity of media types as well as representation of the experiences and cultures of Pima County,” according to the library’s website.
The contest accepts art of all media including paintings, weavings and digital art, but all original designs have to be submitted digitally. AI submissions will not be considered.
When the cards are released later this year, library visitors can trade in their old card for a new limited-edition card without losing their browsing history or account information.
