Boeing engineers break world distance record with paper airplane
The world record for the farthest flight by a paper airplane was recently broken by three aerospace engineers. Dillon Ruble, a systems engineer, Garrett Jensen, a strength engineer and aerospace engineer Nathaniel Erickson all work at Boeing. Their paper plane traveled a whopping 289 feet, 9 inches which translates to 88 meters, or nearly the length of an American football field. The trio spent 500 hours studying origami to create prototypes before their final design was put forward on Dec. 2, 2022 in Indiana. A4 paper was deemed to be the best choice, while the optimal angle is 40 degrees off the ground.
