• Truly Nolen: The Tucson corporate marketing team, dressed up as Flash (Chris Brainard), Belle (Cecelia Fleishman-Matiella), a butterfly queen (Michelle Nolen Senner), and Batman (Ray Rico), brought pumpkins for decorating along with Halloween-themed coloring sheets, swag bags, and the Arizona & West Coast Mouse Limo to Tucson Medical Center for Children on Oct. 19. This is the fourth consecutive year Truly Nolen has delivered goodies to children at the hospital.
  • Maddie’s Fund: Pima Animal Care Center received a $573,536 grant from Maddie’s Fund to create a large-scale, high volume foster program. PACC plans to expand its foster program, which currently targets young animals and pets recovering from illnesses and injuries. The grant will allow PACC to consider healthy adult dogs and cats for fostering. The three-year grant will fund three new positions at PACC, as well as program supplies.
  • Casino del Sol: The Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s enterprise raised $70,000 to benefit two nonprofit organizations in the community at their third annual charity golf tournament last month. Nearly 150 participants came out to Sewailo Golf Club at Casino del Sol for a day of golf that raised funds for Homicide Survivors Inc. and Youth on Their Own. The funds were split evenly between the two organizations. Homicide Survivors is a nonprofit victim assistance organization dedicated to meeting the crisis and long-term needs of families of murder victims. Youth on Their Own is a dropout prevention program that supports the high school graduation and continued success of homeless, unaccompanied youth in Pima County.
  • Community Foundation for Southern Arizona: CFSA has awarded $300,000 in CORE grants to 10 Southern Arizona nonprofits. CORE grants look to support fundamental needs, including administrative costs, program expenses or salaries. Grants were awarded to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tucson; Community Home Repair Projects of Arizona; Higher Ground a Resource Center; Interfaith Community Services; Job Path Inc.; Literacy Connects; Make Way for Books; Mobile Meals of Southern Arizona; Southern Arizona Research, Science and Engineering Foundation; and YWCA Southern Arizona.
  • Women of Quail Creek: The Green Valley community organization donated clothing, toiletries and other supplies to the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System’s Homeless Veteran Outreach program. The donated items will be used to support homeless veterans served by the Tucson VA as well as veterans at-risk of homelessness.
