The Sunnyside School District earned the People’s Choice Award from the website MrsGreensWorld.com.

  • Arizona’s Greenest Workplace: Mrs. Green’s World has recognized a Tucson business and a Tucson school district for their planet-friendly workplace practices. Food Conspiracy Cooperative Inc., won the title of Arizona’s Greenest Workplace, as determined by a five-judge panel of statewide sustainability professionals and advocates. The Sunnyside Unified School District, which is launching a district-wide solar project and water audit, earned the People’s Choice Award by garnering the most votes on MrsGreensWorld.com.
  • Southern Arizona Legal Aid, Inc.: The nonprofit law firm received a $7,500 grant from the American College of Bankruptcy Foundation to assist low-income clients in Chapter 13 bankruptcy with the Mortgage Modification Mediation program. The program will allow Chapter 13 debtors to use a bankruptcy mediation program to modify their mortgages. The program offers another platform for debtors attempting to seek mortgage relief while in bankruptcy.
  • Tucson Urban League: The Citi Foundation has awarded the Tucson Urban League a grant from the 2017 Youth Workforce Fund. The grant is part of Pathways to Progress initiative to provide youth in the United States and around the world with the training and access to jobs, including paid apprenticeships and internships. The League’s $250,000 grant will be used to engage 150 minority opportunity youth in a high-tech careers initiative combining education, internships and industry-driven training in Tucson’s industrial technology, biotechnology, applied information technology, aviation technology, automotive technology and building/construction technology business infrastructure.
