Vantage West was honored for its role in the Anti-Skimming Alliance, which helps prevent fraud at gas pumps.

  • Dr. Fayez K. Ghishan: The director of the University of Arizona Steele Children’s Research Center received the 2017 Eugene G. Sander Endowed Faculty Fundraising Award from the University of Arizona Foundation. Ghishan is also the head of the UA Department of Pediatrics. The award recognizes his commitment to excellence in fundraising and development during his tenure as director of the UA Steele Center over the past 22 years. Ghishan is an internationally noted physician-scientist in the field of pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition.
  • Tucson Medical Center: TMC has been recognized as a Hidden Scar Center for Hidden Scar Breast Cancer Surgery. Hidden Scar Breast Cancer Surgery allows surgeons to remove cancerous tissue through a single incision made in an inconspicuous area, preserving the natural shape of the breast while reducing visible scarring.
  • Vantage West: The credit union won first place in two industry awards sponsored by the Mountain West Credit Union Association and the Credit Union National Association. The honors are the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award for a 2016 holiday toy drive that brought in more than 2,000 gifts for families in need, and the Louise Herring Philosophy-In-Action Award for its participation in the Anti-Skimming Alliance that helps locate and prevent card skimming fraud at Arizona gas pumps.
  • Picor β€” Cushman & Wakefield Tucson: Isaac Figueroa earned the certified commercial investment member designation from the CCIM Institute. To earn the CCIM designation, commercial real estate professionals must complete courses covering topics including interest-based negotiation, financial analysis, market analysis, user decision analysis, investment analysis, and ethics in commercial investment real estate.
  • Olive Garden: Chris Ford, general manager of the Olive Garden at 5410 E. Broadway, achieved parent company Darden Restaurants’ Diamond Club status. He was recognized this year for his commitment to delivering guest experiences at the highest level, while making a difference in the lives of guests and team members, as well as in his community.
  • Mauricio Fregoso Salon: The business won the 2017 title of Pima County’s Top Salon in the national Glamour Fatale β€” Battle of the Salons event. They topped seven other salons to win the $1,000 grand prize and the opportunity to represent Pima County and the city of Tucson in the U.S. finals in Las Vegas for America’s Top Salon. Based on the theme of Dark Night, the eight salons sent their most imaginative and dramatic looks down the runway for judging, accentuated with elaborate costumes, ornate hair, detailed makeup and body painting.
