David W. Hahn, an engineer with more than two decades experience in government, national laboratories and higher education, has been named dean of the University of Arizona College of Engineering.
Hahn is a mechanical engineer specializing in thermal sciences and laser-based diagnostics, including renewable energy, biophotonics and general laser-material interactions. Hahn joins the UA after a 20-year career at the University of Florida, where he served as chair of the department of mechanical and aerospace engineering since 2011.
Hahn has been an affiliate professor in the UF department of materials science and engineering since 2013, and in 2015 was named an affiliate faculty member in the UF Center for Gender, Sexualities, and Womenβs Studies and Research. Prior to becoming department chair, he served as the associate chair for academics for three years.

Prior to being named interim CFO, Rulney was vice president of financial services, responsible for accounts payable, capital finance, compliance, financial management, payroll, tax services, the bursarβs office, investments, procurement and contracting, and records and archives management.

Desiree Palmer has come on board as vice president for the Tucson regional office of ABI Multifamily brokerage and advisory services firm.
Palmer recently moved to Tucson from Huntsville, Ala., where she specialized in multifamily sales in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.
She previously worked in Moscow as a legal associate for a British law firm in the area of banking and finance, including real estate finance.

Carol Stewart, a long-standing authority on research parks, has been appointed to lead the UA Tech Parks.
In her role as associate vice president for Tech Parks Arizona, Stewart will be charged with overseeing the UA Tech Park at Rita Road, developing the UA Tech Park at The Bridges and elevating the Arizona Center for Innovation, the business incubator at the Rita Road park.
Stewartβs expertise in university research parks spans decades and nations. She has more than 20 years of experience working with research parks, technology commercialization, business incubation, governmental relations and business development.
Previously, Stewart served as CEO of the Association of University Research Parks, which represents 200 research parks worldwide. In this role, she collaborated with leaders to build and grow university-related research parks through education, unification and collaboration.
In her new role, Stewart will continue to advance the mission of the Association of University Research Parks by fostering innovation, commercialization and economic growth in a global economy through university, industry and government partnerships for the benefit of the UA.
