    Szenasi oversees all aspects of the 253-room, 850-acre property.

    Szenasi previously served as director of operations, a title that he has held at the Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain since 2016.

    Prior to coming to Tucson, Szenasi spent six years in senior leadership for the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel in California, serving as director of meetings and special events and director of sales, catering, with responsibility for the largest banquet budget and operation within the Ritz-Carlton Hotel company.

    Arizona Oncology added a breast surgical oncologist to the practice.

    Dr. Michele Boyce Ley specializes in surgical care for breast cancer patients, including minimally invasive biopsies, nipple-sparing mastectomies and treatment of high-risk patients.

    Ley has many years of education, training and experience focusing on breast disease and surgery, providing her with an understanding of breast cancer biology, genetics and advanced oncoplastic surgical techniques and breast preservation procedures.

    She has practiced in the Tucson community since 2006.

    Ley attended medical school at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine and completed her general surgical residency at the University of Arizona.

    Her breast surgical oncology fellowship was served at the University of California-San Francisco’s Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center. She is board certified in general surgery and is a member of the American College of Surgeons and American Society of Breast Surgery.

    She previously served as director of breast surgery and associate professor of surgery at the University of Arizona and serves as medical director of TMC’s Breast Health Program.

    Hahn named UA dean of engineering

    David W. Hahn, an engineer with more than two decades experience in government, national laboratories and higher education, has been named dean of the University of Arizona College of Engineering.

    Hahn is a mechanical engineer specializing in thermal sciences and laser-based diagnostics, including renewable energy, biophotonics and general laser-material interactions. Hahn joins the UA after a 20-year career at the University of Florida, where he served as chair of the department of mechanical and aerospace engineering since 2011.

    Hahn has been an affiliate professor in the UF department of materials science and engineering since 2013, and in 2015 was named an affiliate faculty member in the UF Center for Gender, Sexualities, and Women’s Studies and Research. Prior to becoming department chair, he served as the associate chair for academics for three years.

    Rulney named UA senior VP, chief financial officer

    Lisa Rulney has been selected to serve as senior vice president of business affairs and chief financial officer for the University of Arizona.

    Rulney, who was selected following a national search, had been serving as interim CFO since October.

    As CFO, Rulney is tasked with providing leadership and managerial oversight to a division that includes Arizona Public Media; Arizona Student Unions; facilities management; financial services; human resources; parking and transportation services; planning, design and construction; procurement and contracting services; risk management; UA BookStores; and the UA Police Department. She also will oversee the offices that handle internal auditing, planning and budgeting, and sustainability.

    Prior to being named interim CFO, Rulney was vice president of financial services, responsible for accounts payable, capital finance, compliance, financial management, payroll, tax services, the bursar’s office, investments, procurement and contracting, and records and archives management.

    Rulney also has served as assistant dean for finance and administration for the colleges of Engineering and Education.

    McKinney has over 35 years of experience in nonprofit organizations, initiating strategic business plans and overseeing implementation, establishing community partnerships, and fostering program development for several organizations including 10 years as president and CEO for Make-A-Wish Minnesota.

    Previously he served as executive director of the Metropolitan Minneapolis YMCA. Prior to his role with the YMCA, he managed seven regional offices that included recruitment, counseling, fundraising, and special events as vice president of the American Field Service organization.

    Andrew Schulz, dean of the College of Fine Arts, was named the inaugural vice president for the arts.

    Under this new position, Schulz oversees the College of Fine Arts academic units: the schools of dance, art, music, and theatre, film and television. He also oversees museums and arts presenting units, including the Center for Creative Photography, the UA Museum of Art, UA Presents, the Hanson Film Institute and the College of Fine Arts in Schools program.

    In addition, Schulz manages administrative units within the College of Fine Arts that include marketing, communications and philanthropy. A key new initiative will be the creation of an office for arts engagement and partnerships that will foster collaboration and integration on and off campus.

    The Golder Ranch Fire District has selected Capt. Adam Jarrold as their public information officer and public educator.

    Jarrold has served the Golder Ranch Fire District for 15 years. In that time he has worked in the role of firefighter/paramedic, station captain and most recently, emergency medical services captain.

    In this new role, Jarrold will primarily handle media inquiries related to incidents and will also help engage area schools and community groups to identify opportunities for education related to fire and injury prevention.

    Northwest Healthcare recently welcomed cardiothoracic surgeon Zain Khalpey.

    Dr. Khalpey has served the Tucson community since 2012, building a reputation for his work using artificial intelligence, regenerative medicine, and precision medicine techniques to impact heart patients throughout the region.

    He has a special interest in sudden cardiac death, robotic mitral valve repair, total artificial hearts, and using short- and long-term devices in shock and heart failure patients.

    Khalpey completed medical school at Guy’s, Kings & St Thomas Hospital, London School of Medicine and continued his training in the U.S., with a residency and fellowship at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

    This was followed by a super-fellowship in mechanical circulatory support devices for advanced heart failure at Columbia University’s New York Presbyterian Hospital.

    He completed a Ph.D. in cardiothoracic surgery, bioenergetics and cardiac transplantation through the Imperial College UK with work conducted at the University of Gdansk in Poland, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and Harvard University.

    Nicol Green was appointed to serve as the major crimes bureau chief for the Pima County Attorney’s Office.

    Green has been a career prosecutor, first with the Cochise County Attorney’s Office, then since 2001 with the Pima County Attorney’s Office.

    During her career in the Pima County Attorney’s Office, she has prosecuted numerous homicides, aggravated assaults, sexual offenses, child abuse offenses, domestic violence offenses, armed robberies and fugitive extraditions.

    Carol Stewart, a long-standing authority on research parks, has been appointed to lead the UA Tech Parks.

    In her role as associate vice president for Tech Parks Arizona, Stewart will be charged with overseeing the UA Tech Park at Rita Road, developing the UA Tech Park at The Bridges and elevating the Arizona Center for Innovation, the business incubator at the Rita Road park.

    Stewart’s expertise in university research parks spans decades and nations. She has more than 20 years of experience working with research parks, technology commercialization, business incubation, governmental relations and business development.

    Previously, Stewart served as CEO of the Association of University Research Parks, which represents 200 research parks worldwide. In this role, she collaborated with leaders to build and grow university-related research parks through education, unification and collaboration.

    In her new role, Stewart will continue to advance the mission of the Association of University Research Parks by fostering innovation, commercialization and economic growth in a global economy through university, industry and government partnerships for the benefit of the UA.
