Banner-University tabs Carr chief officer
Dr. Gordon Carr, critical care medical director of the Intensive Care Unit at Banner-University Medical Center Tucson, has been named the hospitalβs chief medical officer.
He succeeds Dr. Andreas Theodorou, who recently was named regional medical officer over Banner Healthβs three academic medical centers in Tucson and Phoenix.
Carr is a pulmonologist and intensivist in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine within the University of Arizona department of medicine. He joined the faculty in 2011, starting out as medical director of the Intensive Care Unit at University of Arizona CenterβSouth Campus, now known as BannerβUniversity Medical Center South.
He came to Tucson from Chicago, where he worked at several medical centers.
Breast cancer group promotes Kellman
Anita Kellman has been promoted to the position of patient navigator for the offices of Breast Center of Southern Arizona.
Kellman, who joined the practice in 2006, will guide patients βthrough and around barriers in the complex cancer care system to ensure timely treatment and support,β the center said in a news release.
Kellman is the founder of Beat Cancer Boot Camp, a Tucson-based nonprofit organization.

His broadcast career spans more than 30 years, including as director of television communications for the California Highway Patrol, creative services director for KCRA-TV in Sacramento, director of creative services for KPHO-TV in Phoenix and brand manager for KPHO and KTVK-TV in Phoenix.
- Hildy Ko
- , television program director. She has worked in public broadcasting for 21 years. A former chef, she has worked at KING-TV, the NBC affiliate in Seattle, and KCTS 9, the Seattle/Tacoma PBS affiliate, in marketing, communications, development, traffic and programming. From 2012-13, Ko was on the Public Television Programmers Association Board.

- , who retired earlier this year. Riggins was an advertising manager with the Arizona Daily Star and the former Tucson Citizen for 17 years. She has held management positions with the Miami Herald, Sarasota Herald-Tribune and the Marin Independent Journal. She received the Charles Horne Lifetime Achievement Award for advertising.
- Peter Michaels
- , radio content producer. He has more than 40 years of experience, at The Mutual Radio Network in New York City; NBC News, as a writer and editor for television and radio in New York and Washington, D.C.; and at National Public Radio, in posts including executive producer of βTalk of the Nation.β
Michaels is a previous news director at AZPM and was communications director for the National Institute for Civil Discourse at the University of Arizona.
Mac moves up at Arizona Lotus Corp.
Arizona Lotus Corp. has promoted Larry Mac to operations director of its KLPX (96.1 FM) and KFMA (102.1 FM) rock stations.
Mac has been with the company since 2007, as midday announcer and program director of KLPX.
His programming career has included posts in Phoenix at KUKQ, KZRX, KEDJ and KUPD; and at KVGS/Las Vegas.
